

With the boat turned over the copper clout nails are
removed from the planks that are going to be replaced . After the
nails are removed small wedges are worked into the laps and the planks
gently pried out .

After removing the planks it is a little easier to remove the stem and
sternpost . At this point there really isn't a lot holding one side of
the boat to the other side .

The stem is removed and used as a pattern for carving out a new one .
