With the keel stem and sternpost replaced the planks are replaced and clench nailed to each other through the laps with copper nails . The planks are not nailed to the ribs , at this time . They will be nailed through the ribs later . The shavings on the side of the boat are from planing the correct bevel on the laps to accept the next plank .

Once the bevels are correct the plank is clamped in place for a final check before being nailed on .
