With the mechanical installation completed it was time for launching .
I spent an afternoon with the Dippy doctor taking the boat on her
maiden voyage before delivery to her new home on Stony lake . The six
horsepower Caron engine performed beautifully . Below are some shots
of the boat in the water .

The six horsepower Caron engine built in Montreal is a bit of an
oddity . It is a two stroke engine that runs with oil in the crankcase
and has two connecting rods that run on either side of the piston .
The Dippy doctor commented that the boat was " Fast ! " -- about 8 1/2
mph over a measured mile . Speed is a matter of perspective . And if
you're in a hurry forget it .
