With the holes beside the frames as a guide , the bottom is cut off
in panels . This saves countless hours of removing the rivets from the
steam bent ribs .

The bottom was originally planked with a single layer of cedar 3/4"
thick . Since this boat is going to reside on a boat lift when not in
use it was decided to replace the bottom with a double planked bottom
. The double planked bottom will not need time to soak up as most
conventional single plank bottoms do.

The old bottom removed and all of the frames accessible for
replacement .
