With the boat re-ribbed , turned over and blocked it's
time to change the keel and re- plank the bottom .
After replacing the keel and transom wedges are
applied to the top of the ribs to fair the planking into the keel .
All of the planking is clear vertical grain red cedar and is riveted
with copper rivets as the planking progresses .
After the bottom planking is completed the fastener holes are
plugged , The planking is faired with planes , then
sanders. The seams are caulked followed by two coats of sealer ,
two coats of primer and finally two coats of paint .
