In the foreground are the roughed out planks .All of the planking was cut out of two inch thick stock and then the planks were re-sawn to make a port and starboard for each strake .

After the planking is complete , the screw holes are plugged with plugs cut from the corresponding plank scraps , and the planking faired with a spoke shave , followed by a straight line sander . The next step is to plane down the sheer and start on the deck framing .
