The sheer plank is replaced to the sheer marks on the new ribs .

In preparation for the new ribs evenly spaced holes were drilled in the planking and the copper clout nails set in the holes . As the hot rib is steamed into the hull it is soft enough to drive and clench the copper nail through the rib without drilling the oak rib .( that is if you can get them all nailed in about two minutes , so setting the nails helps reduce the time fumbling with nails when you're in a hurry )
